ALIEN COMMANDER’S MATE (WARRIORS OF THE LATHAR BOOK 6) by Mina Carter
VS Note: I’m reading my way through this series now.
Both her children taken by the Lathar and her home destroyed in the process, Amanda Kallson is at her wits end and desperate. With nothing left to tie her to Earth, she’ll do anything to track down her daughters… even take an alien warriors crazy deal.
It doesn’t hurt that said alien warrior is tall, ripped and as handsome as hell. But Fenriis isn’t the only warrior who has eyes for Amanda and while her ferocious mate is busy fighting off an outside enemy, it’s one within who may steal their happily ever after before it even gets started.
It was supposed to be a quick in and out mission. After an attack on Earth, a planet no non-native was supposed to set foot on, Fenriis is forced to go down to the surface to make sure no enemy forces remain. But when he hears a woman crying, begging for help… from her gods, sure, but in their absence, he offers his aid. She’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, and all she wants is to find her children. Since they’re on his planet, how can he refuse to help… especially when she agrees to be his mate in return?
But, in Latharian society, sometimes it’s not the enemy you can see you need to watch out for. Sometimes the worst attack comes from the last place you’d expect. Forced to fight off her people and his… can he find her before it’s too late?
ANTIBODY (LOVE AND WAR BOOK 3) by R A Steffan
VS Note: I’ve been enjoying this series, so the book is on my ‘gotta read it SOON’ TBR List.
Vithii military cyborgs never go rogue. At least, that’s the official line.
How could they, when their emotion centers have been ripped out and replaced with tech?
No, cyborgs are only good at three things—following orders, destroying whatever target you point them at, and walking calmly into the vaporization chamber when it’s time for them to be decommissioned.
PX-12—better known to his friends as Pax—adequately performed two of those functions during his stint in the Ilarian military. D-8, his unit-sibling, performed all three exceptionally well. For that reason, when D-8’s unique distress beacon activates some seven years after Pax saw him destroyed, it would doubtless be quite surprising if Pax were still capable of being surprised.
Someone in the Regime is recycling the minds of decommissioned cyborgs, turning them into weapons even more horrific than they were before. To stop it, Pax will need the help of telepathic Vitharan ambassador—and part time spy—Veila’ana Nalidor, a woman whose motivations are as opaque as her past.
Since his escape from his military masters, Pax has operated using a strict self-imposed code based on logic. He never expected to experience emotion again—not even somebody else’s emotions.
Can a fragile mental connection forged in crisis overcome the damage done by a ruthless military research team? To find out, Pax and Veila’ana will first have to prevent an atrocity born from the sins of the past.
Preferably, before it destroys the future.

SURVIVING THE APOCALYPSE by Tinnean
VS Note: I love End of the World As We Know It books – put this on my TBR. I liked the look inside sample.
Lyncoln Ryland always saw himself as an ordinary man with an ordinary job, working maintenance in an ordinary mall. The only thing about him that isn’t ordinary are his feelings for the man who’s renovating the mall, but any kind of relationship with such a sophisticated man is highly unlikely.
Adam James is the wealthy man who owns the mall. He’s secretly been yearning for Lyncoln, a man he doesn’t see as ordinary in the least. But Adam’s family has plans for him, and they don’t include a relationship with a blue-collar worker.
All this is about to change when the sirens go off, signaling the possible end of the world. When the two men realize this isn’t a drill, they take shelter in the mall that isn’t quite as ordinary as everyone believes. What will the outcome be when two such disparate men must survive the apocalypse together?

SOLD TO THE ALIEN GLADIATORS by Corin Cain
She looks at my triad with disgust and hatred.
We stare at her with pure hunger.
Captured and forced to battle in the blood-soaked arenas of Bugra, my triad will live and die under the scorching sun.
The only thing that moves our weary muscles and overcomes the pain of our wounds is the obsession of claiming our fated mate.
She is brought to us humiliated and disheveled, and yet still her eyes burn with defiance.
We are born to battle. We are born to blood and violence. Aurelians have no master, and when we break our shackles there will be a reckoning.
She will be ours, even if I have to level empires and plunge the universe into war.
I would kill for her, die for her, even as her hatred burns me to the core.
She will be ours.
ALIEN SPACE OUTLAWS by Mara Frost
Go to space they said!
Be an astronaut they said!
Do something that only a few people in the world have ever done they said!
No one ever said go into space and get abducted by big aliens so that you can be sold to the highest bidder though.
It’s funny how no one ever said that.
As the resident geologist for the International Space Station, I expected a few things during my stay in space – maybe run some particle tests, collect some space dust, run some experiments and enjoy the view. What I didn’t expect was to be abducted by a huge, terrifying alien, get carted across the universe and then have to be on the run with said terrifying alien because he apparently doesn’t know how to stay out of trouble.
And the very last thing I expected was to actually find the infuriatingly cocky alien sexy and charming.
So now I have to figure out a way to survive space, the intergalactic mafia and all the random aliens who want to have me as a pet or wear me as a hat, and I have to do it all without falling for the guy who abducted me in the first place.
Wish me luck?
BRAX: THE TELLOX BOOK 3 by Kelly Lucille
Ariel Bird has always been out of sync with the rest of the world. Turning eighteen with two doctorates has not helped matters. But it never mattered to her as long as she had her sisters. Only now those sisters have disappeared and strange spaceships have been seen in the night skies again.
Everyone thought the Alien threat had come and gone. They were wrong.
Ariel is about to find out what happened to her sisters.
FRRAR (THE GALAXOS CREW BOOK 4) by Layla Nash and Juno Wells
Maisy Cunningham was the youngest doctor to graduate from the Fleet Academy, but that doesn’t stop the rest of the crew from treating her like a helpless little sister. Maisy’s had enough of their coddling and volunteers to take a dangerous assignment on a rebel spaceship with a bunch of pirates to prove she’s just as strong and capable as the rest of the Earther crew.
Frrar sticks to engineering, though he finds himself repairing things in the Galaxos sickbay with surprising regularity. It’s definitely not because he’s fighting his instincts to seduce the ship’s doctor. But when sweet, beautiful Maisy volunteers to work on his brother’s pirate ship, Frrar insists on accompanying her to protect her — even if it means confronting his brother about all his past crimes.
Maisy is ready for adventure, even with Frrar and his brother at each other’s throats the entire journey. But when the pirates attack a neutral ship and steal powerful weapons, she realizes she might have bitten off more than she can chew. The pirates are ready to sell the weapons to the evil Alliance, and only Maisy and Frrar can stop them from destroying the rebellion forever — if they can survive the pirate captain marooning them both in space.
MAGIC TRIUMPHS (KATE DANIELS) by Ilona Andrews
VS Note: I totally LOVE this series and had the book pre-ordered. This was one of those “stay up way too late and read it in one sitting” books for me. It’s the last book in the direct series but luckily there are spin offs.
Kate has come a long way from her origins as a loner taking care of paranormal problems in post-Shift Atlanta. She’s made friends and enemies. She’s found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.
Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate’s doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.
Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.
For her child.
For the world.
STYGIAN A DARK HUNTER NOVEL by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Born before man recorded time, I lived for thousands of years believing myself to be something I’m not.
Someone I’m not.
Lied to and betrayed by gods, Daimons and Dark-Hunters, I’ve struggled to find my way in a world where I’ve been cursed since the moment I was prematurely ripped from my mother and planted into the womb of an innocent woman who thought me her son.
Trained as a slayer and predator, I learned to fit in and stay low. To become a tool for evil. Until I was sent to kill the one woman I couldn’t. My hesitation cost her her life.
Or so I thought. In an act of betrayal that makes all the others pale in comparison, I’ve learned that this world is an illusion and that my Phoebe still lives.
Now I will have to travel into the very pits of Hades to try and save her, even as everyone around me attempts to steal what little soul I have left. There’s only one person at my back and I’m not sure I can trust her either, for she was born of an enemy race. Yet sometimes the road to redemption is one that singes us to our very core. And if I fail to find the answers I need to save Phoebe, more than just my wife will die.
We will lose the world. Both human and Daimon.

Meanwhile, since Targyon has the same blood flowing through his veins that his cousins had, he’s at risk of becoming the next victim. And as it so happens, Jev shares some of that blood too. Might he become a target before Targyon?
When Jev and Zenia signed on for this job, they didn’t realize how deadly it might become.

DRAGON HUNT (WATER DRAGONS BOOK 1) by Charlene Hartnady
Storm, dragon prince of the Water tribe, has decided to take part in the Bride Hunt for the first time. Does he want a mate? Hell no! Simply put, he’s bored, and the hunt sounds like a whole lot of fun. Also, he could do with a human to warm his bed. Once their allotted time is over, she needs to be on her way. He’s far too young to be tied down. The female he wins is welcome to try and change his mind if she feels like it. Try being the operative word.
Jolene is sick of human men. All they want is sex. None are interested in committing to anything long-term. At thirty-four she’s done waiting for her dream man. She wants a husband and a family, and she wants them now. Jolene is thrilled when she’s accepted into the shifter dating program. She’s even more excited when she discovers the shifters are not wolves, as she first thought, but dragons. Who even knew dragon shifters existed? Finally, men who actually want to settle down. Men who aren’t afraid of a woman who knows exactly what she wants.
What a disappointment when the guy who wins her turns out to be an arrogant A-hole. It’s all a game to him. He doesn’t want commitment. What’s worse is that she’s stuck with him for the next couple of weeks. It sucks that she’s a little attracted to him. Okay, okay, make that, a lot attracted to him. He might be an ass, but he’s a gorgeous ass.
Should she try and change his mind about not taking a mate? Forget it! She has better things to do. Chasing after a man isn’t one of them.
Should she make his life a living hell? That’s more like it. Right now she’s got nothing better to do anyway.
Is there a chance of her falling in love with him while doing it? Dammit, but it’s a distinct possibility.

STORM OF THE GODS (ANAREIOS BROTHERS NOVEL) by A R Braun
VS Note: We’re on a weekly snippet hop together and I’ve been enjoying the excerpts she’s shared. Not sure there’s any romance in it though!
Thirty years ago, the gods of Greek legend returned to the world. Their return restored their powers, which had been spent in a cataclysmic battle with the Titans. With the ancient deities imprisoned in Tartarus, the Olympians now reside in Néo Vasíleio, formerly known as California.
Twenty-four-year-old Derek Aerios is a war scion, a descendent of Ares, the God of War. He and his brother, eighteen-year-old Liam, capture mythological creatures and rogue scions as part of Ares’s elite military force. As he struggles to cope with his violent powers and the scars of a traumatic childhood, Derek tries to keep the two vows he has made: protect his brother, and never kill a human again.
But when Ares forces him to hunt and kill four rogue scions under Athena’s control—by threatening Liam’s life—Derek chooses to go after the scions in order to save his brother and keep his promise to himself.
Yet the closer Derek gets to the scions, the more he realizes that his orders are part of a deeper conspiracy that put him at odds with his mission and his conscience. Athena may not be the enemy, a traitor could be in their midst, and the Titans could be closer to freedom than ever before.

When a simple ‘find & fetch’ case throws private investigator Twig Starfig and newly-minted wizard, Quinn Broomsparkle, into the middle of an EBI murder investigation, it’s just another day in the Elder Realm.
If murder were Twig’s only problem, he’d be the luckiest half-dragon in the land. Murder he can handle. Fulfilling his promise to his scheming, power-hungry father to run for a seat on Lighthelm’s city council? Meh, he’d rather face a demon with a toothache.
On top of their case going sideways, and Twig running for a council seat he really doesn’t want, Twig and Quinn are forced to face some unpleasant realities about their budding romance, while still learning how to handle the wizard-familiar bond they now share. Throw in a red fury with abysmal taste in boyfriends, a ghost pirate-parrot who drinks too much, a murderer who will stop at nothing to get what they want, a host of new friends and enemies, and you’ve got a situation where no one is safe and everyone is Fairy Game.

MINOTAUR BLOODED (THE BESTIAL TRIBE) by Naomi Lucas
Aldora lived in a bordertown on the edge of the maze. A labyrinth that spanned an eternity filled with creatures that howled through the night. She was a daughter to farmers that worked the fields and endured a quiet life as a peasant, away from the capital and its nihilistic celebrations; away from all that would look at her and discern her worth. Because to be chosen as a sacrifice was to be chosen to die.
Until one night, while at the labyrinth wall, she heard a husky voice in the darkness.
Vedikus Bathyr. He prowled the overgrown passages at the farthest edges where the true, intelligent beasts roamed. They were all there for the same reasons: to kill each other and capture the humans that entered the labyrinth.
On one fated night a human girl called out to him. A girl with a voice that quickened his blood.
But he wasn’t the only one to hear her call.
SIGNS OF CUPIDITY (HEART HASSLE BOOK 1) by Raven Kennedy
You’d think that basically being in charge of love would be an epic job, right? Wrong. Sure, I can blow some Lust into people’s faces and watch the show, but I can’t actually participate. It gets old, trust me. Same goes for love. I can pass it out like sugar-free lollipops at a dentist’s office, but I can’t get any love for myself. It totally sucks.
I used to consider myself a hopeless romantic, so why wouldn’t I choose to become a cupid? Sounds like a good idea, right? Wrong again. They don’t call us stupid cupids for nothing. I’m stuck in this never-ending afterlife where I’m invisible, lonely, and bitter as hell. And yeah, I’m probably responsible for some terrible matchmaking out there. Sorry, not sorry.
All my bad cupid’ing might be why I was exiled from the human realm. You can only do so much before the cupid bosses get all huffy. Unfortunately, my bitterness carried over into the new realm, and then I attacked a fae prince with Love Arrows… (more blurb on ebook seller site…)

TWILIGHT DESIRES (MORGAN CREEK) by Amanda Ashley
Sofia Ravenwood was once fascinated by vampires—their seductive power, their inhuman strength, their dark desires. Then one of them attacked her family, and she threw out her goth attire and vowed to keep clear of her enemies. Until she heard about Ethan Parrish: a sweet, sizzling-hot former college football player, turned into a vampire against his will.
Wandering the deserted streets of Morgan Creek, Wyoming, Ethan’s sure he’ll be alone forever—a monster like him deserves nothing else. Then beautiful, complicated Sofia agrees to meet him, fangs and all. The need she ignites in him is more than just the pulse of her blood or the scent of her skin. But he’s not the only bloodsucker desperate to make her his own.
MEMOIRS OF A DRAGON HUNTER by Katie MacAlister
Eliza Madder, former ghost and newly minted minion for Demon Lord Leonard, has her work cut out for her when the demon sends her to Hannibal, Missouri to broker a marriage contract between the werewolf alpha of the Ralls County Pack, Grady Conrad, and the daughter of a rival pack. Leonard, who created the original werewolf lines before his fall, wants these two mismatched shifters together and making babies before the end of the month, and he threatens to revoke her twin sister Elise’s human existence if Eliza doesn’t deliver.
To make the task even more difficult, Eliza finds Grady extremely growly and gorgeous, and the attraction goes both ways. How can a minion do her job when she can’t keep her hands off the merchandise? On top of that hellish complication, the rival pack leader has his own deadly plans for Grady.
Eliza will have to use all her resources, including her sisters, the Psychical Society of Paranormal Researchers, and a reluctant bride and groom to thwart the threats and save the only innocent person in her life. What’s a minion to do when she’s caught between a demon and a heartache? She puts on her big girl minion panties and gets madder than hell.
Central to this enmity of the gods is the city of Gondolin, beautiful but undiscoverable. It was built and peopled by Noldorin Elves who, when they dwelt in Valinor, the land of the gods, rebelled against their rule and fled to Middle-earth. Turgon King of Gondolin is hated and feared above all his enemies by Morgoth, who seeks in vain to discover the marvellously hidden city, while the gods in Valinor in heated debate largely refuse to intervene in support of Ulmo’s desires and designs.
Into this world comes Tuor, cousin of Túrin, the instrument of Ulmo’s designs. Guided unseen by him Tuor sets out from the land of his birth on the fearful journey to Gondolin, and in one of the most arresting moments in the history of Middle-earth the sea-god himself appears to him, rising out of the ocean in the midst of a storm. In Gondolin he becomes great; he is wedded to Idril, Turgon’s daughter, and their son is Eärendel, whose birth and profound importance in days to come is foreseen by Ulmo.
At last comes the terrible ending. Morgoth learns through an act of supreme treachery all that he needs to mount a devastating attack on the city, with Balrogs and dragons and numberless Orcs. After a minutely observed account of the fall of Gondolin, the tale ends with the escape of Túrin and Idril, with the child Eärendel, looking back from a cleft in the mountains as they flee southward, at the blazing wreckage of their city. They were journeying into a new story, the Tale of Eärendel, which Tolkien never wrote, but which is sketched out in this book from other sources.
Following his presentation of Beren and Lúthien Christopher Tolkien has used the same ‘history in sequence’ mode in the writing of this edition of The Fall of Gondolin. In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, it was ‘the first real story of this imaginary world’ and, together with Beren and Lúthien and The Children of Húrin, he regarded it as one of the three ‘Great Tales’ of the Elder Days.

Notes and Caveats:
The term “new” is generally plus or minus a week or two. I try to catch up on ones I missed in recent months.
I do NOT cover every single new release in SFR/FantasyR/PNR. I never have. That would be an impossible task for any human! I assemble my list every week based on various informal inputs, and I do curate the list to some extent…
